Lean Smart Maintenance in the Process Industry

Goal

By applying the Lean Smart Maintenance concept to the project partner's production system, its plant management system is geared towards efficiency and effectiveness. The aim is to achieve lean, intelligent, risk- and resource-optimised maintenance.

Benefit

The project partner benefits from a comprehensive assessment of its production system according to risk potential, a maintenance strategy mix optimised according to risk and resource aspects and the identification of critical spare parts. In addition, a fault forecasting model is developed by means of data analysis and used in the area of predictive maintenance.

Project content

In the Lean Smart Maintenance project, a resource- and risk-orientated maintenance approach is applied in combination with data analysis - geared towards the high requirements of an interlinked production system in the process industry:

Lean Smart Maintenance in the process industry

System-critical systems are identified by means of a structured system risk assessment, for which a model for anticipatory maintenance is developed and applied through the targeted use of data analysis. In addition, a comparison of maintenance costs and risk potential is used to identify assets with an unbalanced ratio in this respect. Using detailed risk and cost analyses, efficiency and effectiveness potentials are identified and implemented in the form of a maintenance strategy mix adaptation according to risk and resource aspects. Spare parts are evaluated using ABC-XYZ logic in order to recognise critical spare parts.
